About the Video
“Diversity in the media is a subject that is too often overlooked in public discourse, but its significance cannot be overstated. Whether it’s on TV, in newspapers, or online, news media is all around us and it influences our perspectives in ways we may not even be aware of.
In this episode of our two-part series, three journalists share their insights into the newsrooms of German media institutions, the importance of representation at every level of journalism, and the need for diversity in views and experiences in all topics of reporting. By discussing the lack of migrants or people with migration histories as reporters, editors, or managers, the three journalists make their case for opening up the media industry in Germany and beyond.
This series is designed for those working with youth, students, and young journalists to spark evidenced and insightful discussions about diversity and representation in the media and, ultimately, the impact this has on society as a whole.
